Anti-dumping

On October 18th, 2013, the Indian Directorate General of anti-dumping & allied duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of electronic calculators (at the exception of printing, graphing and programmable calculators) from China.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code: 8470.1000.
This follows the application lodged by M/s Ajanta Ltd., the sole domestic producer of the subject goods.
 
On October 31st, 2014, the Indian authorities extended the time for completing the investigation up to April 17th, 2015.
 
On April 13th, 2015, the Indian Directorate General of anti-dumping & allied duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, issued its final findings and recommended the imposition of a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of electronic calculators originating in China.
 
On May 29th, 2015, the Indian Ministry of Finance issued the Customs Notification imposing this definitive anti-dumping duty (Notification No. 24/2015-Customs (ADD), 29.05.2015). The amount of this duty is USD 1.22 per item, at the exception of the companies NingboDeli Electronic Development Co., Ltd. and Fujian Kayfung Electronic Co., Ltd. whose exports are subject to a duty of USD 0.28 and USD 0.79 per item respectively. Moreover, the company Casio Electronic Technology is not subject to the payment of any duty.
This definitive duty is effective for a period of five years.
