Tax or social insurance relief

On 25 March 2014, the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, adopted Decree no. 858 which temporarily eliminates the Value Added Tax (VAT) on imports of following items:

  • 9 mm pistols, NCM (i.e., Mercosur Nomenclature) 9302.00.00, 1.463 units
  • arms marker, NCM 9305.10.00, 1.463 units
  • 9mm ammunitions, NCM 9306.90.00.19, 14.591 units
  • handcuffs, NCM 8301.10.00, 3.514 units
  • bullet proof vest, NCM 3926.90.90.90, 2.221 units
  • motorcycle tires, NCM 4011.40.00, 627 units

 
The items can be imported by governmental bodies and are limited to the project 'II Plan Excepcional de Adquisición de Bienes, Prestación de Servicios y Ejecución de Obras de la Gran Misión A Toda Vida Venezuela'.
 
The measure entered into force on 25 March 2014 and lasts for two years.
