Anti-subsidy

On 5 April 2022, the Department for International Trade of the United Kingdom initiated a transition anti-subsidy investigation following the issuance of the Trade Remedies (Dumping and Subsidisation) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019. The anti-subsidy investigation concerns imports of certain hot-rolled flat products of iron, non-alloy or other alloy steel from China. The products subject to investigation are classified under HS code subheading 7208.10.00.00, 720840.00.00, 7211.19.00.10, 7208.26.00.00, 7208.52.99.00, 7225.30.90.00, 7208.27.00.00,7208.53.10.00, 7225.40.60.90, 7208.36.00.00, 7208.53.90.00, 7225.40.90.00, 7208.37.00.10, 7208.37.00.90, 7208.54.00.00, 72 26.19.10.90, 7208.38.00.10, 7208.38.00.90, 7208.39.00.10, 7208.39.00.90, 7208.40.00.10, 7208.40.00.90, 7211.13.00.00, 7226.91.91.00, 7211.14.00.10, 7211.14.00.90, 7226.91.99.00, 7211.19.00.90, 7208.25.00.00, 7208.52.10.00 and 7225.19.10.90

Notably, the transition investigation concerns the existing EU trade defence duty introduced by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 2017/969, issued in April 2017, see related state act.

This investigation was initiated by the Department for International Trade without an application from the domestic industry. The United Kingdom is at present only conducting reviews of existing EU trade defence interventions as part of the Trade Remedies (Dumping and Subsidisation) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (as amended).
