Safeguard

On February 28, 2014, the Indian Directorate General of safeguards initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of bare elastomeric filament yarn of all deniers and varieties.
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 5402.4400 and 5404.1100.
This follows the application lodged by M/S Indorama Industries Ltd., the sole domestic producer of the subject goods.
According to the UN Comtrade Database, in 2013 the following countries exported goods classified under HS code subheadings 5402.44 and 5404.11 to India with a trade value over USD 1 million: Vietnam, South Korea, Singapore, China, Japan and Thailand.
On September 29, 2014, the Indian Directorate General of safeguards decided to terminate the safeguard investigation on imports of bare elastomeric filament yarn.
