In February 2022, the German authorities banned all Russian carriers from German airspace.

On 27 February 2022, the German authorities announced a ban on its air space to Russian aircraft and airlines. The measure entered into force on 27 February 2022 evening for an initial period of three months. Also, state-owned Lufthansa airline announced that it would no longer fly to or over Russia.
According to the notice, the measure comes in the context of Russia's attack on Ukraine and the resulting increasing tensions. Similar bans are already in force in other EU states (see related state act).
Update
On 28 February 2028, the European Union adopted Council Regulation (EU) 2022/334 banning Russian air carriers from the EU airspace (see related state act).
