Import tariff

On 27 March 2014, Israel decided to suspend import tariffs on milk powder in the production of ice-cream. Previously, milk powder used in the ice-cream sector was subject to a tariff quota. Hence, domestic producers were only able to import a certain amount per year free of duties.

The tariff quota scheme will continue to exist. The quota used by the ice-cream sector has been reallocated to other sectors. Therefore, this measure does not only affect the producers of ice-cream but all firms processing milk powder.
