On 1 February 2022, the New South Wales (NSW) Ministry for the Arts of Australia allocated an additional AUD 80 million (approx. USD 56.9 million) to the Performing Arts Rebound Package supporting all businesses that host, produce, or promote performances or music, or are music venues themselves, in the NSW region. The funding is dispersed in the form of financial grants.
The objective of the financial grant scheme is to assist an industry experiencing financial losses as a result of COVID-19 government-imposed restrictions. More specifically, venues or performance centres must demonstrate that they were directly impacted by the restrictions, such as having to cancel shows or other performances between 19 September 2021 and 30 April 2022. In this context, venues can use the financial grant toward rent, wages, utilities, and more. The grant can also be used to directly pay performers.
To view the previous funding for the Performing Arts Rebound Package, please, see related state act.
The application deadline is 30 April 2022. The Package also granted an AUD 5 (USD 3.5) million financial grant to Support Act, a charity group for artists (however, the grant did not cross the GTA's USD 10 million reporting threshold).
In addition, the New South Wales Government has allocated additional funding to other interventions related to COVID-19. Please, see related state acts.
