Financial grant

On 1 April 2021, the Canadian government signed an agreement with Tesla Motors Canada Inc. for incentives provided under the iZEV Program. The total value of the funding is CAD 16.2 million (USD 13.1 million) and it will be provided in the form of a grant. The agreement is effective for the period between July 1, 2021, to September 30, 2021.

In order to encourage the use of zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) Canadian government has been implementing the Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles (iZEV) Program. The iZEV program provides incentives during the sale or lease of ZEV vehicles. Specifically, battery-electric, hydrogen fuel cell, and longer-range plug-in hybrid vehicles are eligible for up to CAD 5,000 of incentives.

The Canadian government announced that as of November 23, 2021, the 2021 and 2022 models of Tesla Model 3 are no longer eligible for iZEV program incentives.
