Export ban

On 1 January 2022, Indonesia issued the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Press Release No.1.Pers/04/SJI/2022, introducing a temporary export ban on coal. 

The objective was to fulfill the domestic coal supply needs for the state electricity company (PLN)'s power plants.

The export ban entered into force from 1 - 31 January 2022.
