Import tariff

On 20 October 2021, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued a ruling relating to the tariff classification of certain polypropylene fibrillated yarn. With the ruling, CBP reclassified polypropylene fibrillated yarn as polypropylene twine under HTSUS 5607.49.2500 rather than as synthetic monofilament under HTSUS 5404.90.0000. With the new classification, the import tariff of the subject product has increased from duty-free to 9.8 cents/kg + 5.3 percent duty.

This ruling will become effective on or after December 19, 2021.
