Import quota

On 12 December 2013, Colombia's Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism adopted Decree no. 2909 stipulating a temporary import quota on vehicles with electric and hybrid motors with cylinders of less than or equal to 3.000 cm3.
 
The quotas are set as follows:

  • Vehicles with electric motors: 750 units per year with an import tax of 0%
  • Hybrid vehicles: 750 units per year with an import tax of 5%
  • Domestic charging equipment: 1500 units per year (i.e., 750 units for each of the two types of vehicles) with an import tax of 0%
  • Rapid charging stations: 100 units per year with an import tax of 0%

 
The measure came into force on 1 January 2014 and lasts three years.
