In August 2013, the government of Mexico initiated a new anti-dumping investigation and a definitive duty was imposed in December 2014. In December 2019, a sunset review was initiated.

Anti-dumping

On August 13, 2013, the Mexican Ministry of Economy decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on imports of steel cables from China. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7312.1001, 7312.1005, 7312.1007 and 7312.1099. The complaint was lodged on May 8, 2013 by Deacero, S.A. de C.V. The investigation started on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Federation, i.e. on August 23, 2013.

On March 19, 2014, the Mexican authorities decided to continue the investigation without imposing a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of steel cables from China. This resolution was published in the Official Journal of the Federation on May 7, 2014.

On December 1, 2014, the Mexican authorities decided to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of steel cables originating in China. The amount of the duty is USD 2.58 per kilogram. This definitive anti-dumping duty entered into force on the day following the publication of the resolution in the Official Journal of the Federation, i.e. on December 17, 2014.

On 2 December 2019, the Mexican authorities initiated a sunset review of the antidumping duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China. This follows the request lodged on 30 September 2019 and 31 October 2019 by Aceros Camesa, S.A. de C.V. and Deacero, S.A.P.I. de C.V. respectively. The existing antidumping duty remains in force for the duration of the review. The review commenced on 3 December 2019.
