Import tariff quota

On 1 October 2021, the Mexican government published an Agreement that established a temporary import tariff rate quota for soybeans. Specifically, it established a duty-free volume of 500,000 tonnes for imports of soybeans under subheading 1201.90 (excluding for sowing) until 31 December 2021.

The measure aims to expand the supply sources of soybean in order to contribute to competitive and more stable prices for the benefit of consumers. According to the WTO Tariff Download Facility, outside the duty-free quota, the average applicable duty is 7.5%.

The measure entered into force the day of its publication. The allocation of the import tariff quotas shall be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
