Import tariff

On 17 September 2021, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) issued Notice R.871 increasing the import duty on grinding balls from duty-free to 15%. The subject product is classified under the tariff subheading 7325.91.

According to the decision, the new import tariff will apply for general trade partners, while EU/UK, EFTA, SADC, MERCOSUR, and AfCFTA trade partners continue to export to South Africa duty-free.

This measure is the result of an investigation carried out by the International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC) under Report no. 638.
