On November 25, 2013, the Brazilian authorities decided, after having conducted an expiry review, to continue the anti-dumping duty on imports of hair brushes from China (Resolução No. 99, 25.11.2013). The products subject to the duty are classified under the following HS codes: 9603.2900. The amount of this definitive duty in USD per kilogram ranges from 12.55 to 15.67 depending on the company. This definitive anti-dumping duty entered into force on November 26, 2013 for a period of five years. This duty follows an expiry review requested by the Sindicato da Indústria de Móveis de Junco e Vime e Vassouras e de Escovas e Pincéis no Estado de São Paulo (SIMVEP) on September 13, 2012. A review was then initiated by the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade on December 11, 2012 (Circular No. 64, 11.12.2012). The review started on the day of the publication of the circular in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on December 12, 2012. The original anti-dumping duty entered into force on December 13, 2007 (Resolução No. 69, 11.12.2007).
On 23 November 2018, the Brazilian authorities initiated a sunset review of the definitive antidumping duty imposed on imports of hair brushes from China. This follows the application lodged on 26 July 2018 by SIMVEP. The duty will remain in force for the duration of the review.
