Anti-dumping

On July 17, 2013, the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on imports of household articles and toilet articles of plastic (manufactured from polypropylene, polyethylene or polystyrene; coloured, decorated or transparent) from China (Circular No. 39, 17.07.2013). The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 3922.1000 and 3924.9000. The complaint was lodged by the Brazilian Association of the Plastic Industry (Associação Brasileira da Indústria do Plástico, ABIPLAST) on July 31, 2012. The investigation started on the day of the publication of the circular in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on July 22, 2013.
On April 9, 2014, the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade decided to terminate the investigation without imposing any duty following a request from the applicant (Circular No. 16, 09.04.2014). Circular SECEX No. 16 was published in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil on April 10, 2014.
