 On 3 April 2013, Sri Lanka amended the import regulation for used cars. The amendment extends the list of inspectors in Japan authorized by the Secretary to the Sri Lankan Minister of Finance to issue a certificate of export inspection for the used cars.
 
List of Authorized Inspectors - (as of 21 July 2006)
i) For imports from Japan - Japan Auto Appraisal Institute
ii) For imports from all other countries - Bureau Veritas
iii) In a country where Bureau Veritas is not available or any other reason - an inspection authority accepted by the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance.
 
List of Additional Inspectors - (as of 3 April 2013)
i) For imports from Japan - Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Center Company Limited (JEVIC)
ii) For imports from Japan - Used Car System Solutions Co. Ltd. (USS Co. Ltd.)
