Effective January 2, 2014, the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration has increased the application fees for family-based immigration cases as follows:

  • for an initial family-based residence permit application, the new fee is NOK 5,200 (previously NOK 3,750);
  • for a timely renewal application the new fee is NOK 2,500 (previously NOK 1,100);
  • for a delayed renewal application the new fee is NOK 5,200 (previously NOK 3,750).

According to data from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (see the second source) "a larger share of the family immigration has been women, e.g. from Thailand, Philippines and Russia, that enter into marriages with Norwegian men with no immigrant background".
