On January 7, 2014, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mr. Muhyiddin Yassin, in his role as chair of the Cabinet Committee on Foreign Workers and Illegal Immigrants (JKKPA-PATI), issued press release KE-11 No. 1/2014, banning fast food restaurants from employing foreign workers, in order to give priority to local employees.
