Import ban

On 1 November 2013, Ghana introduced a ban on rice imports by land. Rice imports are now only allowed through the Kotoka International Airport and the ports of Tema and Takoradi. The stated purpose of this measure is to stop the evasion of import duties.
 
Update January 9, 2014:
 
On January 2, 2014, the Ministry of Trade and Industry reportedly issued a statement that allows the importation of rice from Côte d'Ivoire once again.
