Export ban

On 30 July 2013, the Economic Coordination Committee of Pakistan decided to ban exports of livestock from 1 October 2013.

This move comes with an intention to encourage exports of processed meat products and provide other by-products to secondary industries, with the idea that the processed industry yields better returns as compared to sale of livestock.

According to UN Comtrade, Pakistan did not export more than 1 million USD worth of livestock to any country in 2012. Hence, no affected trading partner has been listed.
