State loan

On 29 December 2017, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Banco Comercial Portugues SA signed an agreement worth EUR 75 million (approx. USD 89 million) for the project Loan 4 SMEs & Midcaps Forest Fire Support from Portugal. The total cost of the project is estimated at EUR 150 million.

According to the project description issued by the EIB, Loan for financing small and medium size projects carried out by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or MIDCAPS impacted by forest fires in Portugal..

The objective of the project is defined as following: The proposed EIB loan would promote medium and long-term lending for capital investments to companies suffering from the effects of the 2017 wildfires, to enable them to resume and/or stabilise their economic activity..
