Import tariff

On September 30, 2013, upon the advice of the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC), the South African Revenue Service (SARS) published an increase in the tariff on several types of chicken meat for non-EU countries, effective immediately. The tariffs were increased as follows:

  • HS 0207.12.20 (Carcasses): from 27% to 31%
  • HS 0207.12.90 (whole bird): from 27% to 82%
  • HS 0207.14.10 (boneless cuts): from 5% to 12%
  • HS 0207.14.20 (offal): from 27% to 30%
  • HS 0207.14.90 (bone-in portions): from 18% to 31%

 
Affected trading partners
The GTA retrieves its data on affected trading partners from UN Comtrade. However, for the year 2012, the database was not able to provide the affected trading partners for Botswana, Swaziland, and Lesotho.
