Import tariff

On October 2, 2013, Nigeria's Federal Executive Council approved a new national automotive policy that aims to strengthen the country's automotive sector and to limit imports of used cars. According to a statement by Minister of Information Labaran Maku, 'appropriate tariff regimes to discourage car imports and encourage local manufacture will be put in place'.
