Anti-subsidy

On 1 November 2010 Canada terminated the countervailing duties on imports of refined sugar from the European Communities.
 
On July 27, 2009 Canada initiated a re-investigation respecting the amounts of subsidy of refined sugar, refined from sugar cane or sugar beets, in granulated, liquid and powdered form, originating in or exported from the European Union.
 
On January 29, 2010 the the Canada Border Services Agency concluded in a notice No. 4218-2 that the the amount of countervailing duty applicable will be revised as follows: a countervailing duty equal to 22.13 EUR/100 kg will be applied to all goods from the EU imported after January 29, 2010 instead of the previous rate of 34.632 EUR/100kg.
