Anti-dumping

On September 30, 2013, the Brazilian authorities decided, after having conducted an expiry review, the continuation of the anti-dumping duty on imports of pedals for bicycles from China (Resolution No. 75, 30.09.2013).
The products subject to the duty are classified under the following HS code: 8714.9600.
The amount of the duty is USD 1.56 per kilogram. This definitive anti-dumping duty entered into force on the day of the publication of the resolution in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on October 1, 2013, and is applicable for a period of five years.
This duty follows an expiry review requested on July 11, 2012 by Metalúrgica Duque S.A. A review was then initiated by the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade on October 4, 2012 (Circular No. 51, 04.10.2012). The review started on the day of the publication of the circular in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on October 5, 2012.

The original anti-dumping duty entered into force on October 11, 2007 (Resolution No. 47, 10.10.2007).

On May 22, 2014, the Brazilian authorities decided to suspend for one year the levy of the anti-dumping duty imposed on September 30, 2013 (Resolution No. 39, 22.05.2014). The reasons are temporary changes in the Brazilian market conditions due to difficulties faced by the domestic industry. This temporary suspension entered into force on the day of the publication of the resolution in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on May 23, 2014.

On May 21st, 2015, the Brazilian authorities decided to extend for one more year the suspension of the levy of the anti-dumping duty imposed on September 30th , 2013 on imports of pedals for bicycles from China (Resolution No. 47, 21.05.2015). This extension entered into force on the day of the publication of the resolution in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on May 22nd, 2015.

On 29 June 2016, the Brazilian authorities terminated the above definitive duty imposed by Resolution No. 75 of 30 September 2013 (Resolution No. 62, 28/06/2016).
