Anti-dumping

On October 1, 2007, The Government of Brazil adopted an anti-dumping duty of 270.76 dollars per kilogram on frames of reading glasses imported from China with a CIF value equal or lower to 10 dollars.

On October 5, 2012, the Brazilian authorities initiated the first sunset review of this measure.

On October 1, 2013, the Government of Brazil decided to continue applying, for the next five years, an anti-dumping duty of 270.56 dollars per kilogram against frames of reading glasses from China with a CIF value lower or equal to 11.44 dollars. In addition, duties cannot be higher than 4.87 dollars per piece. The products subject to this measure are classified under the following items of the MERCOSUR Harmonized System: 9003.11.00, 9003.19.10, 9003.19.90, 9004.90.10 and 9004.90.90.

On 2 October 2018, the Brazilian authorities terminated the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China. The duty was terminated as it was set to expire after an imposition period of five years.
