ANNOUNCEMENT 18 Sep 2013In September 2013, the government of the United States initiated a new anti-subsidy and a new anti-dumping investigation.
NUMBER OF INTERVENTIONS
On September 18, 2013, a coalition of two firms (AK Steel Corporation and Allegheny Ludlum LLC) and one labor union (United Steelworkers) filed a set of anti-dumping (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) petitions against grain-oriented electrical steel imported from several countries. The CVD petition is aimed solely at imports from China; the AD petition targets imports from China, the Czech Republic, Germany, Japan, Korea, Poland, and the Russian Federation.
On July 22, 2014, the Department of Commerce published the final dumping determinations for Germany, Japan, and Poland at enforcement.trade.gov/frn/2014/1407frn/2014-17226.txt.
The anti-dumping investigation ended on August 27, 2014, when the U.S. International Trade Commission reached a final negative injury determination; see http://www.usitc.gov/press_room/news_release/2014/er0827mm3.htm.
