Import tariff quota

On 6 February 2013, the Brasilian Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) decided in resolution no. 11/13 to reduce the import tariff on wheat (NCM 1001.99.00) from 10% to 0% for a quota of 1 million tons. The measure takes effect on 1 April 2013 and expires on 31 July 2013.

On 9 April 2013, the Brasilian Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) doubled its wheat-import quota for purchases outside its regional free trade bloc (Mercosur). The country's foreign trade commission increased the wheat quota up to 2 million tonnes from 1 million tonnes. The increase remains in force from 10 April to 31 July 2013. The measure is being implemented due to the low harvest in Argentina, Brazil's main source of wheat. The measure, i.e. Camex resolution 26/13, amends Camex resolution no. 11/13.

On 18 July 2013, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) published resolution no. 53/13 prolonging the current tariff rate quota until 31 August 2013. The resolution amends Camex resolution 11/13.

On 26 August 2013, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) decided to prolong and increase the tariff rate quota on wheat grains (NCM 1001.99.00) due to supply shortages. Resolution no. 64/13 keeps the reduced tariff of 0% and increases the current quota from 2 million tons to 2.3million tons. Camex resolution no. 64/13 amends resolution no. 11/13 and stays in effect from 27 August 2013 until 10 September 2013.

On 9 September 2013, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) decided to prolong and increase the tariff rate quota. Camex resolution no. 65/13, which came into force on 10 September 2013, keeps the tariff at 0%, adds 400.000 tons to the current quota of 2.3million tons and prolongs the period until 30 November 2013.

On 29 October 2013, Camex resolution no. 90/13 increased the tariff rate quota by 600,000 tons, starting on 30 October 2013 until 30 November 2013.
