Import tariff

On 19 December 2012, the Government of Brazil announced an increase of the Common External Tariff (AEC, for its acronym in Spanish) applicable to 28 products from the dairy industry, fruit preparations and toys.
 
The AEC is the Most Favored Nation (MFN) import tariff established by the members of the MERCOSUR Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay as a block, which applies to the rest of the world. According to this resolution, as of December 19, 2012, the applicable import tariff rate for these products will be of 28% for dairy products and 35% for the rest.
 
The 4-digit HS codes in question are: 0402, 0404, 0406, 2008 and 9503.
 
The measure is in effect from 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2014.
