Import tariff

On May 10, 2013 upon the advice of the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC), the South African Revenue Service (SARS) published an increase in the tariff on polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tape (HS 3920.99.25) from 10% to 20% ad valorem for non-EU/EFTA countries, effective immediately. The tariff of 2.5% for EFTA countries remains unaltered.

The ITAC found that considerable price disadvantages are experienced by the domestic industry in the face of fierce foreign competition. Following the tariff support, the Commission will conduct a review of the duty structure three years from the date of implementation.
