Tax or social insurance relief

On 21 May 2009, the President of the Republic, Hugo Chavez Frias, adopted Decree No. 6.719 which temporarily eliminates the Value Added Tax (VAT) on imports of airplaines, electronic equipment for telephony and radiotelephony, video recording equipment, data processing machines for use in the country's program to fight smuggling.
 
This measure entered into force on 22 May 2009 for a three years period.
