Import tariff

On 31 August 2010, the President of the Republic, Hugo Chavez Frias, adopted Decree No. 7.657 which temporarily eliminates the Value Added Tax (VAT) on imports of laptops and chargers from Portugal.
 
This measure entered into force on the same day for the period of one year.
This measure has been classified amber because, although it effectivelyreduces tariffs on trade with Portugal, other foreign suppliers of laptops are relatively disadvantaged.
