Financial grant

On 19 September 2012, the European Commission approved a EUR 114 (USD 149) million Financial grant scheme from Austria. The aid will support investments into the construction and extension of freight transport systems that include railway. The scheme is in force from 01.01.2013 to 31.12.2017.

Under the scheme, investments that support the expansion of transshipment by the means of railway will be supported. This includes investment expenditure for both the construction and extension of freight transport that involve railway as part of the transshipment system - as well as investments for construction and extension of private connecting railways for freight transport. The annual budget is set to EUR 19 (USD 25) million per year, making the total budget EUR 114 (USD 149) million for the entire duration.

The state aid is notified under the following objective: Environmental protection.

A state act in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the financial support granted here is discriminatory.
