On 17 July 2013, in an interview for Rossiyska Gazeta (an official newspaper of the Russian Government), Issue 6130, the deputy head of the Department for Work Relations with Foreign Nationals at the Federal Migration Service, Mr Dmitry Demidenko, disclosed that foreign students will be allowed to work during their studies in Russia. Technically, this opportunity will be granted on the basis of a special visa sticker in the student's passport.
On 25 July 2013, the respective legal act has been published in Rossyiskaya Gazeta Issue 6137: Federal Law of the Russian Federation of 23 July 2013 N 203-FZ "On Amendments of Federal Law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation" and Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation in order to create more favourable conditions for the education in the Russian Federation of foreign citizens and stateless persons".
The new regulation entered into force on 1 January 2014.
