On 30 April 2021, First Solar Inc., a U.S.-based solar module producer, announced completing the sale of its U.S. project development business to Canadian OMERS Infrastructure Management Inc. for USD 151.4 million after obtaining clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).

OMERS is a Canadian pension fund created to manage the retirement benefits of all local government employees in Ontario. OMERS Infrastructure Management Inc is one of the investment divisions of OMERS offering direct investments in sectors including energy, transportation, institutional facilities, and government-regulated services.

CFIUS is an inter-agency committee of the United States Government that is authorized to review the national security implications of foreign investments in U.S. companies or operations.
