On 2 July 2013, the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry initiated an anti-dumping investigation on cellulose fibre reinforced flat cement and pattern sheets originating in or imported from Thailand. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 6811.8210 and 6811.8290. The request was lodged by Hume Cemboard Industries Sdn. Bhd.
On 30 November 2013, the Malaysian authorities imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of the subject good from Thailand. The rate of the duty ranges from 13.96% to 63.10%, depending on the exporting company. The duty is in force for a period of 120 days.
On March 30, 2014, the Malaysian authorities imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of flat cement from Thailand. The rate of the duty ranges from 0% to 31.14%, depending on the exporting company. The measure is in force for a period of five years.
