Public procurement localisation
On June 18, 2013, the Kenyan government published the Public Procurement and Disposal (Amendment) Regulations. At least 30 per cent of public procurement must henceforth be spent on micro and small enterprises owned by youth, women and persons with disability. To benefit from these rules, such enterprises must register with the national treasury or with county treasuries. In addition, overall preference will be given to Kenyan goods.
