Export ban

On 17 June 2021, Indonesia issued the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Regulation No. 17/2021 to ban the export of lobster (Panulirus spp.), crab (Scylla spp.), and crayfish (Portunus spp.) with the following criteria:

  • A lobster with a length more than 6 centimeters and weight more than 150 gram;
  • A crab with a wide more than 15 centimeters and a weight more than 150 gram; and
  • A crayfish with a wide more than 12 centimeters and weight more than 150 gram.

The stated aim of the regulation was to maintain their population in Indonesia. 

The regulation entered into force on 4 June 2021.
