Import tariff

On 19 August 2020, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued a ruling relating to the tariff classification of a document holder with a notepad. With the ruling, CBP reclassified the document holder with a note pad and accordion-style coupon holder as a notebook under HTSUS 4820.10.2040 rather than as a container under HTSUS 4202.12.8170. With the new classification, the import tariff of the subject product has reduced from 17.6 percent to duty-free.

This ruling will become effective on or after October 18, 2020.
