State loan

On 11 March 2021, the European Investment Bank (EIB) approved a EUR 300 million (approx. USD 359.3 million) financing programme for small and medium energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in the EU. The objective is to reduce energy consumption.

In particular, the loans will focus on industrial, commercial, public, waste heat recovery and lightning projects related to energy efficiency, as well as renewable energy projects from biomass, geothermal, solar, wind, PV solar and co-generated sources. According to the EIB, eligible promoters will be private entities in the EU with projects that meet the aforementioned criteria. No hard restrictions in terms of the economic sector o size were provided.

A state act in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the investment support granted here is discriminatory.
