Loan guarantee

On 15 June 2013, the Italian council of Ministries approved the Decree 'Decreto Fare', which aims at simplifying bureaucratic procedures, reducing the length of civil lawsuits, modernising and optimising public infrastructure and supporting productive activities in the country. With respect to the state support of productive activities, the following measures are taken:
- Less requirements are needed to access the Central Guarantee Fund (established in 2005) and the funds available to it are increased.
- EUR 5 billion are made available to SMEs at a below-market interest rate to buy new equipment and machinery for production purpose.
- A Guarantee Fund for Big Projects is established, with EUR 50 million available for 2013 and 2014.
 
The Decree is not yet approved by the Parliament.
