In April 2021, the Canadian authorities initiated an antidumping investigation on imports of certain small power transformers from Austria, Chinese Taipei and the Republic of Korea. In September 2021, a provisional duty was imposed. In December 2021, a definitive duty was imposed.

Anti-dumping

On 15 April 2021, the Canadian Canada Border Services Agency initiated an antidumping investigation on imports of certain small power transformers from Austria, Chinese Taipei and South Korea. The products subject to investigation are classified under HS code subheading 8504.22.00.20, 8504.23.00.10, 8504.90.90.10, 8504.90.90.82, and 8504.90.90.90. This investigation follows the application lodged by Transformateurs Delta Star Inc., Northern Transformer Corporation, PTI Transformers Inc., and PTI Transformers L.P.

On 10 September 2021, the Canadian authorities imposed a provisional antidumping duty on imports of certain small power transformers from Austria, Chinese Taipei and South Korea. The rate of duty on imports from Austria is 78.4% of the export price. The rate of duty on imports from Chinese Taipei is 17.2% of the export price. The rate of duty on imports from South Korea ranges from 16.7% to 78.4% of the export price, depending on the company. The regulation terminating the import registration requirement and imposing provisional duties was issued on 10 September 2021.

On 24 December 2021, the Canadian authorities imposed a definitive antidumping duty on imports of certain small power transformers from Chinese Taipei and South Korea. The rate of duty on imports from Chinese Taipei is 21.3% of the export price. The rate of duty on imports from South Korea is 73.1% of the export price. The regulation imposing definitive duties was published on 24 December 2021.

On 24 December 2021, the Canadian authorities terminated the antidumping investigation on imports of the subject good from Austria without the imposition of duties. The dumping of the subject goods from Austria has not caused injury and is not threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry.
