On May 28, 2013, the Government of Argentina adopted reference prices applicable to the importation of clothing for men and boys from China, Vietnam, Thailand, and other Asian countries. The product subject to this measure is classified under the following tariff line of MERCOSUR's Harmonized System: 6210.40.00.
These reference prices entered into force on May 30, 2013.
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature forimported goods in June 2005 (in Spanish: valores criterio de carácterpreventivo). The stated purpose is to strengthen customs control andprevent under-invoicing. Importers are required to provide guaranteesfor the difference in duties and taxes if the declared price of animport is lower than its reference price (see 7th GTA Report and 2014 National Trade Estimate Report).A list with all current import reference prices can be consulted under:www.afip.gov.ar/aduana/valoracion/valores.criterios.pdf
