Import ban

On May 28, 2013, the Iraqi Council of Ministers adopted the recommendation of the Committee on Economic Affairs to ban imports on all cement types, entering into effect on July 1st. In the run-up to the measure, the Ministry of Industry had already stopped issuing import licences for cement, specifically, since May 14, 2013. However, the cabinet reserved the possibility of lifting the import ban if the situation on the domestic market so requires.
