On 6 May 2010, Chile's Ministry of Finance announced the Bicentennial Capital Market Reform (Reformas Mercado de Capitales Bicentenario) consisting of 20 different bills with the goal of favoring the access and participation of foreign financial entities and investors in Chile's capital market, amongst others. For example, the Capital Market Law III (Ley de Mercado de Capitales III) of 27 July 2010, which is part of the broader Bicentennial Capital Market Reform, now authorizes foreign venture capital to operate in the country.
