Import tariff

On 8 March 2021, the European Commission issued Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/401 decreasing the import duty applicable to certain husked rice (excluding basmati rice). The duty is classified under HS code subheading 1006.20.

Particularly, the import tariff was decreased from EUR 65 (USD 77.05) per tonne to EUR 30 (USD 35.56) per tonne. The previous import tariff was set on the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1259 in September 2020 (see related state act).

The applicable import duty on the affected commodity is calculated based on an Agreement in the form of an Exchange of Letters between the European Community and the United States of America introduced in 2005.

The measure entered into force the day of its publication.

Update

On 8 September 2021, the European Commission adopted Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/1458 that repeals the present measure and increases the duty value.
