Import tariff

On 17 February 2021, the Executive Committee of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (GECEX) issued Resolution No. 159 changing temporarily the import tariffs applicable to bicycles. Concretely the regulation contemplates two import tariff changes from March until 1 January 2022, when the import duty is to reach the same value as it was established prior to the new regulation (see related intervention). The affected tariff line was NCM 8712.00.10.

From the period ranging between 1 March 2021 and 30 June 2021, the new import duty was set at 30%. According to the WTO tariffs download facility, the previously applicable average duty set on the affected tariff line before Resolution 159 was adopted was 20%.

The 30% import tariff adopted via Resolution Nº 159 applies for the period ranging between 1 March 2021 and 30 June 2021. After that date, a new import duty applies (please, see related intervention). 

 
Update
On 18 March 2021, the Executive Committee of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (GECEX) issued Resolution No. 170 revoking the application of Resolution No. 159 and introducing a new import tariff for bicycles. The new regulation entered into force on 26 March 2021 (please, see related state act).

Import tariff

On 17 February 2021, the Executive Committee of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber (GECEX) issued Resolution No. 159 changing temporarily the import tariffs applicable to bicycles. Concretely the regulation contemplates two import tariff changes from March until 1 January 2022, when the import duty is to reach the same value as it was established prior to the new regulation (see related intervention). The affected tariff line was NCM 8712.00.10.

From the period ranging between 1 July 2021 and 31 December 2021, the new import duty was set at 25%. According to the WTO tariffs download facility, the previously applicable average duty set on the affected tariff line before Resolution 159 was adopted was 20%.

The 25% import tariff adopted via Resolution Nº 159 applies for the period ranging between 1 July 2021 and 31 December 2021.
