Import ban

On 17 August 2020, Sri Lanka through Imports and Exports (Control) Regulations No. 05 of 2020 withdrew an import ban on salt. The ban was temporarily imposed on 21 May 2020 for a period of 90 days but was later extended indefinitely on 30 June 2020 (see related State Act).

The amendment is effective from 18 August 2020.

On 30 June 2020, Sri Lanka had imposed an import license requirement on salt (see related State Act).
