Anti-subsidy

On 10 August 2012, the European Commission announced the initiation of an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of certain stainless steel wires originating in India.
The complaint was lodged on 28 June 2012 by the European Confederation of Iron and Steel Industries.
The products subject to investigations are classified under the following HS codes: 7223.0019 and 7223.0099.
On May 3, 2013, the European Commission announced the imposition of a provisional countervailing duty on imports of the subject products. The rate of the duty ranged from 3.1% to 4.3% depending on the company. This provisional countervailing duty was applicable for a period of 4 months, starting on May 9, 2013.
On September 2, 2013, the European Union decided to impose a definitive countervailing duty on imports of stainless steel wires from India. The rate of the duty ranges from 3.0% to 3.7% depending on the company. This definitive CVD has entered into force on September 8, 2013.
